The legend of the ’99’ with Willie John McBride #LionsHSBC

The history of it really comes from my earlier tours. There were always bad boys on the opposite teams. In 1962, we lost Richard Sharp, who was really our star player. We had a number of incidents and injuries. 1968, we again had incidents in South Africa. And the 99 call was born or invented in 1974 tour. When I captain and indeed, it was my idea. I remember this game. It was against Eastern Province. And I got a nod that there were a couple of bad boys in this team. Before our first test which was the following week, there might be some things happen that they would…

Rugby: NZRU cuts Zac Guildford’s contract

The NZ Rugby Union has terminated Zac Guildford’s contract calling him ‘troubled’. The former All Black wing was contracted to the end of the Super Rugby season but hasn’t been required for the Crusaders this season. Manawa Wright reports. Zac Guildford, when he was on form, he was flying. But things soon went downhill from there. The NZRU has cut ties with Guildford, terminating his contract. But according to Odyssey CEO, Phillip Grady, there are other options for the union to follow. Soon after making it into the All Blacks, his fall from grace came courtesy of alcohol. His most recent alcohol-related incident occurred at the start of this year.…

    Claire’s Referee Story

My name is Claire Hodnett. In my professional life I’m a solicitor and on a Saturday afternoon I referee National League men’s rugby. My father involved me in rugby from a very early age and I followed in his footsteps. My playing career ended when I had two knee operations and at my local club, Newark, I happened to be watching a game on a Saturday afternoon and I saw Australian female referee refereeing a first-team game and I thought I’d like to have a go at that. The first steps I took were to enroll on a referee’s course and I attended a course where I was educated on…

Dan Carter Rugby Ball Kicking Tee

This Video Review Is Based On : Price, quality, performance, warranty, brand trust, after sales & service, reusability, familiarity and easy to operate. You guessed it, another one designed by Daryl Halligan and used by Dan Carter that makes the top of my list so let me tell you why Not this particular one, but one exactly like it increased Dan Carter’s kicking success rate right up to an impressive 85% since using it during games It has the 4 points like others but because it is curved inside it gives you more options of positions to put the ball in so that you can find that sweet spot to…

Hi, my name is Giuliano Passini and I’m happy and honored to welcome you to ALMA Rugby’s show episode 1 Felipe, in your opinion, what’s the most important aspect in rugby? – To me rugby is more than simply a sport it is a school of life there are no written values, however there are values that to me if you learn them as a child, you’ll use them for the rest of your life, right? they are important not only to the game itself but also to your day to day life and those are the sacrifice, loyalty, the companionship I’m always saying that rugby is a formative sport,…

Here comes the trusted Gilbert again and even though I didn’t put these Tees in order I have to say this is my favourite My 4 boys all have one of these and they have had them for about 7 months now And they are still in one piece which is quite unbelievable if you knew how boisterous my boys were The 3 adjustable parts are really easy to move to a different position, but not so easy that it will keep slipping down when you put…

Scotland vs Italy – RBS 6 Nations Rugby – Geldenhuys : “it’s going to be a tough one”

“What did they say? (Scottish team) They said ‘this year, in order not to get the wooden spoon we have to win against Italy. It is the easiest game, this year we can be second to last. So we are going to put in this game the best players we have.’ So this is the state of mind that Scotland is going to have. So it will be difficult, very difficult for us, because we will find a team that is going to give all they have in order to beat us.” “We kicked off the Six Nations like we wanted to, with a bang, and I think we are…

Making a splash down under – The British & Irish Lions swap rugby for surfing on Bondi #LionsHSBC

Welcome! We’re going to work out the steps. Will and I will be in the water, so as soon as you get to us, you can stop and come to the tail of your board. You just want to slide on from the tail, so your toes touch the tail, like that. Just try that, just go to the tail of the board, slide on. Standing up, if you do that. And just bring your feet here. Even though I had a few lessons to learn how to surf on the sand, and then you think it’s a lot easier than… We went out there, see and have a go,…
